The department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) inspect John Palin (Wholesale) Ltd on a weekly basis to confirm produce supplied is in accordance with the standard stated e.g. Class 1. This is a requirement for anyone operating a fresh food wholesaling facility.

Customers, however, are more demanding than DEFRA. Since the majority of goods are delivered and purchased without inspection by the customers, the relationship is built on trust and a longstanding track record of delivering premium quality produce on time. Any consistent failure of quality or delays in delivery could result in the loss of business. John Palin (Wholesale) Ltd, however, prides itself on consistently high quality product and customer service standards. John Palin (Wholesale) Ltd has not lost business for reasons of quality or reliability.

John Palin (Wholesale) Ltd have a code of practice for suppliers and employees to ensure quality standards are maintained and that careful handling takes place throughout the supply and delivery process.

Genetically modified (GM) foods are not supplied in line with the current advice from Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association (CCFRA) and public concern regarding GM foods.

We have been externally audited by STS Solutions and been awarded an 'Approved' status. STS Solutions provide expert consultancy and training in food safety.
